My career began in government public relations. Fast forward a few years of career evolution from Edmonton through Vancouver to Nanaimo establishing the marketing communications business – McMann & Tate. My professional career culminated in a decade of service as President and CEO of the Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce.  Since 2023, I’ve worked with non-profits all over the North & Central Island, supported (and launched) successful community festivals and events, and helped build connections between government and business while finding time to serve the community…

  • Planned and launched Nanaimo’s first annual Family Fun Fest – a Labour Day weekend community festival focused on family fun

  • Director (Secretary) of GrowthWorks – a private-lending agency championing nonprofits and impact-driven enterprises.

  • Chair, Steering Committee, Building Safer Communities – a federally-funded pilot initiative in Nanaimo with a goal of funding and developing non-profit programming seeking behavioural alternatives to ‘guns, gangs, and violence’ building youth resilience and strength.

  • President, Nanaimo International Jazz Festival Association – comprised of an annual Festival and live jazz performances throughout the community.

  • Spokesperson and Organizer, Fair Care Alliance – a community advocacy initiative dedicated to building a new Cath Lab and Patient Tower to achieve equity in health care on Vancouver Island.
